Avandia is the brand name for the drug rosiglitazone. It is used to treat diabetic patients because of its unique ability to make patients more sensitive to insulin. Avandia was approved by the FDA in May of 2006 and it is estimated that over 6 million people worldwide have been prescribed Avandia since its introduction to the market in 2003.

Avandia Warnings & Side Effects

One of Avandia's most dangerous side effects is congestive heart failure. Congestive heart failure occurs when the heart no longer has the ability to pump enough blood to maintain adequate circulation. This leads to pulmonary edema, which is fluid buildup in the lungs. Bone fracture has also been linked to Avandia and is believed to be caused by the body's decreased ability to remove and replace bone cells and the triggering of cells that cause the degradation of bone. Other negative side effects of Avadia are blurry and abnormal vision, swelling of the retina, swelling of legs, ankles and feet.

Patients taking Avandia should be very closely monitored. We believe that if you or someone you love has suffered from any of the many dangerous side effects associated with the use of Avandia you should be compensated.
